Homeward Bound

Tiny A-R-B and her parents left Sutter Memorial on Thursday morning and went home. Arby (one of a dozen or so nicknames I've tried out so far) met her brother-from-another-mother Diego, and went on a quick stroll around 35th Street.

Mishpucha

In a busy first 48 hours, Alexandra was thrilled to meet her grandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins, and even her great-grandparents. She looks just like all of them.

Hello, world

Since I've already decided that the most basic of human behaviors are special and blogworthy when a) it's our baby and b) they're happening for the first time, here's a quick video of Alexandra waking up and waving. Or something like that.

A few more photos from Tuesday and Wednesday

While some people need more than three hours of sleep over the last 48 hours to look good, our little girl looks plenty fine on minimal rest.

A few day 1 - 1.5 photos

These are all fairly self-explanatory --

1) The "she's a she!" moment
2) Screaming seconds after
3) In the recovery room taking a bite out of an apricot (or maybe just eating her hand, we can't remember)
4) Shiny happy people
5) First diaper change -- photo courtesy of the night nurse who declared it a momentous occasion

Good morning!

After actually falling asleep-ish from about 6:30 a.m. till 7:30 a.m., this is what we awoke to.

She's here!

Our sweet little girl Alexandra Rose Brokaw was born Monday, December 27th at 9:15 p.m. She made her debut at a whopping 5 lbs. 4 oz ,18.1 (damn near 18.2) inches long and scored almost perfect marks on all her tests. Her family is ecstatic and she seems happy to be here too.
