Prison guards love babies and fruit bouquets

They came from all over the lower 48 -- Seattle, Austin, San Francisco, Hotlanta among others -- to meet Miss Alexandra Rose. Some even came with new nicknames -- such as Axl Rose (thanks Brendan!)*

Breaking News: Dog Ends Boycott, Admits Baby Is "Kinda Cute"

After several days of maintaining a respectful but cold-shoulderish distance from the newest occupant of his domain -- the girl whose arrival evicted him from his bedroom -- Diego the Mexican Streetdog finally caved the other day and decided that he likes his sister-from-another-mister, Little Alexandra. Occasionally, when we pretend to not be watching, he'll try and sneak a quick nuzzle.

Alex wraps up a busy 2010, rings in the New Year

After toasting to the second calendar year of her young life with Uncle Nick and her parents, Alexandra watched poor Dick Clark attempt the countdown to the Ball Drop, then passed out in her New Years-best on the couch.

What babies do all day

A wise man once asked at a parenting class, "what are you supposed to do all day with a baby?" The teacher didn't really have an answer for me, but we're slowly figuring it out.


1) They are mesmerized by their equally mesmerized grandparents.







2) They are bathed*
*every other day







3) They sleep in a contemplative pose
